The Corporate Relocation Council (CRC) started in the late 1970’s as a series of informal luncheons. Because of high interest rates and associated real estate issues, Hugh Dermody, a real estate professional, decided to start inviting corporate relocation professionals to lunch in order to address the issues of the day. As the attendance at these luncheons grew to more than a table, the meetings migrated to private restaurant areas. Mentoring of new relocation specialists was also a high priority. Hugh and his associates felt that it was their responsibility to "bring along" the new, young professionals. So it all began – social and professional interaction for the purpose of mutual education and professional growth.
