Dr. Froswa' Booker-Drew
VP of Community Affairs at the State Fair of Texas
I am intrigued by relationships, particularly building networks to address issues in organizations and communities. Because of my extensive background in leadership, nonprofit management, partnership development, training and education, I’ve been quoted in Forbes, Ozy, Bustle, Thrive Global, Huffington Post, and other media outlets worldwide. As former Vice President of Community Affairs for the State Fair of Texas, I led a department focused on community initiatives, educational programming, partnerships, and philanthropy. I have been intentional about changing the narrative of philanthropy: More than 70% of the organizations funded were grassroots and led by people of color. I am also the co-founder of HERitage Giving Circle, the first Black Women’s Giving Fund in Texas, and co-founder of both Power In Action and the South Dallas Employment Project.
In addition, I have been asked to speak on a variety of topics, such as social capital and networking, leadership, diversity, and community development, to national and international audiences. This included serving as a keynote at the Fuelgood Conference in Canada, as a workshop presenter at the United Nations, and as a keynote for the US State Department Humphrey Fellows. As the owner of Soulstice Consultancy, LLC, I create meaningful and measurable impact through a variety of offerings for nonprofits and companies.
I consider myself so fortunate to be honored for my work which includes: 2023 Maura Award by Texas Women’s Foundation, TEDxSMU speaker, Dallas Business Journal Women in Business Award, Outstanding African American Alumni Award from UT-Arlington, and Diversity Ambassador for the Red Cross.
Graduating with a PhD from Antioch University in Leadership and Change with a focus on social capital and relational leadership has offered me the opportunity to have a scholar/practitioner lens in all I do. I completed training in Relational Cultural Theory, facilitator training on Immunity to Change based on the work of Kegan and Lahey of Harvard and Equity Based Evaluations through UNICEF. I am the author of 4 books: Empowering Charity: A New Narrative in Philanthropy (Baylor University Press), Fly Away, Ready for a Revolution: 30 Days to Jolt Your Life and Rules of Engagement: Making Connections Last as well as a writer for several publications around the world including Business Woman Media as an advice columnist on workplace issues and an inspirational columnist for Texas Metro News. I am also the host of The Tapestry podcast which is available on over 400 platforms and heard in 150+ countries.
