From 1990 to 1992, our founder, Ira Koretsky, was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. He served as both the PAO and CIO at Silas B. Hays Army Hospital. When he moved back to the east coast shortly after leaving the U.S. Army, he left knowing he would come back one day to live.Fast forward to 2000, Ira finished his MBA from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. The call of Northern California was strong. Back then, Monster and Dice were the dominant career sites. So he posted his resume online and checked two boxes — “willing to relocate” and “Northern California.” Five months later, he found himself driving across the United States for the fourth time. He worked in a vibrant part of San Francisco on 2nd street, near what is now called Willie May’s Plaza.Just a few years later in 2002, the once rocket ship-like high tech industry was now more like a snail.
